Vocational Services

Phoenix provides an array of vocational rehabilitation services intended to assist individuals with disabilities succeed in the world.  Services are offered in 12 counties: Madison, Morgan, Limestone, Franklin, Colbert, Marshall,  Jackson, Lauderdale, Cullman, Marion, Walker and Winston.  Phoenix has several dedicated staff members providing these services.  Programs within the Vocational Services division are CARF International accredited.

The various vocational rehabilitation services offered are:

VOCATIONAL EVALUATION

An assessment of a person’s vocational capacities in terms of knowledge, skills and abilities.  The assessment provides recommendations for employment, training, job/personal accommodations, or other rehabilitation services.

EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

Employee Development Services

Individualized job readiness and/or work experience services that teach or modify work skills, behaviors and attitudes.  This services provides intense support and training related to: interpersonal skills and communication skills, attendance, work performance, physical stamina, work behaviors, grooming/hygiene, job retention skills, employer expectations and workplace accommodations.

JOB DEVELOPMENT, PLACEMENT, AND COACHING SERVICES

The process of developing job opportunities for an individual which is consistent with his/her occupational knowledge, skills and abilities.  Follow up is also provided to assure the stability of an individual’s employment.  A job coach is provided for onsite training and supervision.

Provides the same types of supports as job development, placement and coaching services on a more in-depth and intense level.

EMPLOYEE SUPPORT SERVICES

Provides case management, job coaching, employee assistance, reasonable accommodations and training to employees working within Phoenix.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

High School Career Assessment Training Class

A wide range of services available to high school students.  These services focus around career assessment, personal and vocational adjustment training, social skills, college preparation, drivers training, job exploration and workplace readiness.

In all, Phoenix provides the above mentioned services to approximately 650 individuals each year.
